Advanced "Enigmathics" Cooperative Problem-Solving Challenges in Math: Set of 2 Books (G3727UF) $25.90 $12.00

General Introduction

Welcome to the world of Enigmathics, exciting resources which encourage students to use a wide variety of approaches to solve mathematical problems.

Enigmathics gives each student the opportunity to work effectively as a team member, to express ideas and to interact with others working towards the same goal. Enigmathics is made up of activities which challenge students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and language and which develop creativity in applying these to everyday mathematical problems. Enigmathics enables students to test ideas and take risks in a non-threatening environment.

Enigmathics makes students aware that there is no one way to work through a problem. By working with others, they will find new ways to explore and express ideas.

Having enjoyed the activities in Enigmathics, students may find themselves taking up the challenge of producing their own activities either individually or in a group. It is a great experience to go through the process of producing their own Enigmathics and having classmates solve them—fun and rewarding!

To the Teacher

Advanced Enigmathicsis a two-book set which provides activities suitable for cooperative-group problem solving. The books focus on…
      • students working together to achieve a goal

      • individual accountability
      • challenging interaction
      • cooperation and helping each other achieve
      • FUN

The activities in Advanced Enigmathics: Book A relate to achievement objectives for the measurement and geometry and in Advanced Enigmathics: Book B relate to achievement objectives for the number/algebra and statistics strands with mathematical processes running through both of these.

Each section contains activities based on everyday math problems the students may encounter as well as activities relating directly to the learning experiences for that strand.
