Not Likely! contains three sections of work for elementary school on the topic of probability, chance and data.
SECTION ONE: AT HOME!
This section presents a series of 10 activities for developing the school-home partnership. These activities are designed to be completed by children and parents cooperatively. They form an introduction to chance and data and will assist in informing parents about the type of chance and data activities that students will be involved in at school.
SECTION TWO: QUICKIES
Quickies are activities designed to involve children physically in their math (a great boon to kinesthetic learners). They can be used either as a learning center/station in group rotations, or as an introduction to lessons. The use of different recording formats (involving fractions, decimals and percentages if needed) is best determined by you as teacher.
SECTION THREE: ACTIVITY CARDS
These activities are designed to be made into activity cards. The cards may be used for early finishers or as a station in rotation. Students could work in pairs, as the language of some cards may prove difficult.
